These Terms of Use govern your use of the WatchGarden mobile app ("WatchGarden", "the app"). WatchGarden is developed and maintained by an independent developer (referred to here as "we", "us"). By installing or using WatchGarden, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
YouTube Terms of Service
WatchGarden uses YouTube API Services to let parents find channels and to show approved videos to their children. The videos, thumbnails, titles and channel information shown in WatchGarden come from YouTube.
By using WatchGarden, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service: https://www.youtube.com/t/terms.
Your use of YouTube content through WatchGarden is also subject to the Google Privacy Policy. How WatchGarden itself handles data is described in our Privacy Policy.
WatchGarden is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google. YouTube and the YouTube logo are trademarks of Google LLC. All videos and channel content remain the property of their respective owners.
Who may use WatchGarden
- WatchGarden is set up and managed by a parent or legal guardian (an adult of legal age in your country). The adult who sets up the app accepts these terms on behalf of the children who use it and is responsible for their use of it.
- Children use WatchGarden only through a profile created by that adult. Children cannot create accounts.
What WatchGarden does — and does not do
- WatchGarden shows children videos only from channels an adult has approved. It does not host, own, create, review or moderate any video content.
- Channel owners decide what they publish. An approved channel may publish new videos at any time, and WatchGarden cannot guarantee that every video on an approved channel is suitable for your child. Please review the channels you approve and remove any you no longer trust.
- Parental controls (PIN, screen-time limits, bedtime windows) are aids, not guarantees. Keep your PIN private.
Premium subscriptions
- Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription sold through Google Play. Pricing and the billing period are shown before purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Google Play account. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in the Google Play Store; deleting the app or your WatchGarden account does not cancel it.
- Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policies.
- Premium requires signing in with a Google account so your data can be synced. You can delete that account from Settings → Account → Delete account.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- reverse engineer, modify, or interfere with the app, the YouTube player, or YouTube API Services;
- use the app to download, copy, or redistribute YouTube content;
- use the app in any way that violates the YouTube Terms of Service, applicable law, or the rights of others.
Advertising
The free version of WatchGarden shows non-personalized ads from Google AdMob in the parent-facing parts of the app. Videos played from YouTube may contain ads placed by YouTube or the content owner; those are outside WatchGarden's control and are not removed by Premium.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
WatchGarden is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any content provided by YouTube or third-party channels. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer-protection laws that cannot be waived.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date above will change, and material changes will be announced in the app's release notes on Google Play. Continuing to use WatchGarden after a change means you accept the updated terms.
